1) To be ahead in a hand is to be currently winning the hand. 2) The player to act ahead of you sits on your right and acts first.

1) I flopped a set of aces and was definitely ahead in the hand. However, there was a flush draw on the board and my opponent could have easily caught up. 2) I had a fish acting ahead of me all night. Needless to say, I had a great session.
