Definition 1a4x3v
1) A rule in some cardrooms where a player can enter a table in the small blind by putting in two big blinds (one dead and one live). The hand after this, the player gets to play on the button (hence buy the button). 2) A tactic used by players in late position. A player in late position would raise to get the button to fold and play in last position (the "button").
Example 3i2j60
1) I hate buying the button since I am effectively in for four big blinds with the worse position on the table. 2) I almost always raise from the cutoff hoping the button will fold. I love buying the button.
