Definition 1a4x3v

A range refers to the possible hands an opponent could hold. The easiest way to understand what it means is to describe it using preflop play, even though it applies post flop as well. When we are acting preflop, we have 3 actions. We can fold, call, or raise. Since there are 1326 different combinations of hands, and only 3 actions, then it is clear that we take the same action with many different hands. The set of hands that we take each action with, is defined as our range.

Example 3i2j60

My opening range from UTG FR is approximately {99+, AQ+}.
